The California Department of Developmental Services has released an RFQ for Infrastructure-as-a-Service in support of its iSeries Consolidation - Cloud Project.
The Developmental Services Department says it plans to consolidate "all Developmental Center IBM systems into a Tier III data center cloud solution" virtualized to run in Developmental Centers located in Cathedral City, Costa Mesa, Porterville and Sonoma.
The project's objective is to move public-facing, mission-critical IT applications to a Tier 3 data center in order to comply with a state statute enacted in 2010.
Quotes are due May 24 and a contract award is expected in June. The contract period will be for one year with up to two years of extension.
