The California Department of Technology has canceled a bid opportunity for vendor-hosted human resources software.
"At this time the Department is cancelling this bid effort and will pursue a new direction for the VHSS HR procurement," the Department of Technology wrote in a March 23 letter to bidders.
The solicitation was published in fall 2015. At that time, the state said it was seeking a “comprehensive solution,” the state said its intent “is not to award for a single solution for the entire state. There may be multiple awards for distinct manufacturer products in order to provide State Departments a variety to choose from to best suit their individual department needs.”
Human resources software is one vertical of several planned for the Department of Technology's "Vendor Hosted Subscription Services" (VHSS) model that will make enterprise-level solutions available to multiple state agencies and departments. The department is acting as a broker for these VHSS services.
Other planned solutions in the VHSS portfolio include digital signatures, offsite backup and disaster recovery.
California might choose to use existing contract vehicles for future VHSS solicitations, outgoing state CIO Carlos Ramos said late last year.
