The Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) NorCal TechLatino Council is hosting its Emerging Technology Leadership Summit Series Kickoff and National Latino Technology Achievers Awards on March 31 and April 1 in Sacramento.
The eighth-annual event at the Sheraton Grand hotel will feature guest speakers Secretary of State Alex Padilla, California State CIO Carlos Ramos, among other government and procurement officials.
"The summit will deliver new and thought provoking ideas to this community,"said Jorge Avila, president of LISTA NorCal TechLatino Council, in a press release. "Innovation and disruption are both makers and builders. We have a lineup of ‘disrupters’ that are taking a left turn to literally move and change how we think, behave, do business, learn, and go about our day-today life."
In addition to recognizing Latino technology professionals at the National TechLatino Achievers Awards, topics on the summit agenda include the lack of diversity in Silicon Valley, closing the digital divide by 2020, and screening and reception for the film Spare Parts, a true story about four high school students from Phoenix’s Carl Hayden High School, who overcame long odds to win a national robotics competition over MIT and several other university teams.
The summit will host expert panels on tech trends, leadership, diversity and inclusion, security, social media, education, cultivation of startups, and a business expo.
