Technologists with expertise in information security are being recruited for positions in the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) and the California Department of Aging (CDA). Details are below.

CDTFA
Chief Information Security Officer (IT Manager II)
$11,056-$13,439 per month

The chief information security officer (CISO) “provides strategic leadership in information security, risk management and business continuity, ensuring a well-managed security posture across the department,” the job posting says. The CISO develops strategies that minimize enterprise risk, including establishing and maintaining CDTFA’s Information Security, Risk Management and Business Continuity programs.

The CISO collaborates with IT and business leadership and maintains awareness of threat vectors, risk levels and security priorities. The CISO also leads CDTFA’s Privacy Program, which encompasses daily operations, policy development, compliance monitoring, incident investigation and breach response.

Franchise Tax Board
Security Architect (IT Specialist III)

The security architect will serve as the department’s expert, working closely with FTB’s Security Oversight team in providing technical expertise and direction. The incumbent provides advanced analysis to identify and/or prevent possible security breaches or data loss, ensuring that FTB’s systems and projects have the necessary requirements in place.

“These efforts contribute to the safeguarding of taxpayer and employee information,” the job posting says. “In addition, [the] individual provides the most advanced architecture framework to secure FTB’s network, system and applications. [The architect will also] identify and address security risks based on advanced knowledge of FTB’s IT environment, industry threat trends and security intelligence.”

California Department of Aging
Assistant Information Security Officer (IT Specialist II)

The incumbent, working under the chief information security officer, serves as a cybersecurity adviser and implements and maintains security governance and associated frameworks and processes.

“The AISO [assistant information security officer] serves a critical function in the development, implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity policy training,” the job posting says.

Other key duties of the role include risk and compliance management; incident response and technology recovery testing and planning; evaluation and implementation of security controls; audit planning and reporting; security assessments; supporting the security awareness training platform and processes; and developing working relationships with stakeholders.
