AI on Agenda for Next CDT-DGS Vendor Forum

The June 6 forum will include an update from the Department of General Services including its procurement needs, as well as discussion of critical services, the Technology Stabilization Program and the Technology Modernization Program.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) and the Department of General Services (DGS) have scheduled the next Vendor Forum, the twice-yearly online events in which the private sector is given an overview of the state’s technology and what’s ahead.

The event, according to CDT, will offer vendors “valuable information on how their companies can partner with the state of California.”

The forum will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 6, and the agenda is a stout one — and this one includes a discussion on generative artificial intelligence. The state recently published a report on how state agencies should procure, use and train with AI. That document, which was a collaboration of the Government Operations Agency, CDT, DGS, the Office of Digital Innovation and the California Department of Human Resources, serves as an interim guide until a more detailed update is published in 2025.

CDT and DGS are among several state departments that hold these periodic events as a way to solicit solutions from vendors for various needs. Other departments that have held vendor forums include the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Financial Information System for California. Speakers for the June event have not yet been announced.
