The State Water Resources Control Board's Office of Information Management and Analysis is hosting a "coffee and conversation" gathering on Friday April 1 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the CalEPA headquarters building in downtown Sacramento.

"This informal gathering will mark the official release of the water-themed data sets on the open data portal (at greengov.data.ca.gov), and will give potential Data Innovation Challenge participants an opportunity to talk with stewards of those data sets and ask questions about the data. It will also be an opportunity for participants to talk with Water Boards’ staff more generally about the event, and about the problems they are working to solve and challenges they face. Coffee and snacks will be provided, and anyone interested in participating in the event is welcome to attend."

Data Innovation Challenge participants are invited to create and submit apps, visualizations and other tools from currently available water and environmental data sets. The products are due April 19. Participants will present their creations at the Data Innovation Challenge on April 22.

For registration and more information about this event, go to the State Water Board's website.
