The staff of Assemblywoman Ling Ling Chang, R-Diamond Bar, livestreamed a California Energy Commission meeting on Wednesday morning to show that webcasts of public meetings can be done at little or no cost.

Chang’s legislation (AB 435) would require departments, boards and commissions under CalEPA and the California Natural Resources Agency to webcast all onsite public meetings and archive them for at least three years.

The bill has been referred to the State Senate Committee on Environmental Quality.

Chang’s staff live streamed the California Energy Commission meeting using the Periscope mobile app.

Some state meetings #livestream and some don’t. My bill requires ALL depts at Cal EPA and Natural Resources Agency to stream meetings online — Asm. Ling Ling Chang (@AsmL2Chang) August 12, 2015
