Bay Area Digital Government Summit Is Wednesday

Mark your calendars: The Bay Area Digital Government Summit is scheduled for Wednesday in Foster City.

The annual event brings together public-sector technologists with leading industry partners “to connect on innovative approaches, get inspired and discover new technologies,” according to an announcement by the host, Government Technology, sister publication to Industry Insider — California.

The daylong event will offer a variety of speakers and breakout sessions, beginning with registration and refreshments at 8 a.m., followed by opening remarks at 9 a.m. from Liza Massey, chief information officer for Marin County, who was featured in an Industry Insider “One-on-One” interview in September 2021.

Sessions through the day will feature leading technology executives from across California public entities, with some running concurrently:
  • 10:10 a.m.: “Bits and Bytes — Data-Driven Transformation in Marin County and San Jose.”
  • 11 a.m.: “Fortifying the Digital Fortress: Modern Cybersecurity Strategies,” featuring Michael Makstman, chief information security officer, Office of Cybersecurity, city and county of San Francisco; and Savita Chaudhary, assistant city manager and director of IT, city of Fairfield. Also, “Unleashing the Power of Data: Overcoming Access Challenges,” featuring San Jose Deputy City Manager Rob Lloyd; Eudora Fleischman, IT Infrastructure and Security Division manager, city of Fairfield; Subrat Sharma, chief of Data and Digital Services, Department of Housing and Community Development, state of California; and Arti Tangri, equity data lead, city of San Jose. Also “Equitably Transforming Digital Service Delivery for All,” moderated by Massey.
  • Noon: Lunch.
  • 1 p.m.: “Rethinking Your Workforce Culture,” with Modesto CIO Scott Conn. Also, “Modernization and Innovation — Can They Coexist?” with CIO Ahsan Baig of the Department of Innovation and Technology, Alameda-Contra Costa Transit.
  • 2:30 p.m.: Featured speaker Jack Shaw will discuss “Digital Transformation for Government: The Future Is Now.”
A networking reception will follow, and the conference concludes at 4:30 p.m.
