The manager "coordinates, plans, organizes, and reviews the work of staff assigned to provide a full range of systems planning, design, programming, implementation, installation, maintenance, and support for computer systems operating on a variety of platforms," the job posting says. The manager is also responsible for:
- Overseeing the networks, operating systems, peripherals, and software that support Sonoma Water's business and utility needs
- Directing design, coding, and modifications to the network, security protocols, computer systems, programs, and procedures for the solution of engineering and mathematical problems, accounting, telemetry control, data acquisition, and administrative systems
- Recommending, implementing and documenting changes, policies, and procedures
- Performing administrative duties including budget preparation and employee selection, training, and evaluation
- Performance, safety and security of the organization's information technology hardware and software, including establishment of standards and security procedures for both software and physical protection
