New and noteworthy bid opportunities at the California State Teachers' Retirement System and the California Department of Justice:
- In a bid introduced Oct. 3 by CalSTRS, the organization is seeking a firm to modify a portion of an SAP system that's the foundation of its pension system. The project will involve "the removal of specified pension-related functionality and interfaces from an existing SAP system, and for the design, build, test and deployment of the SAP-side of interfaces with CalSTRS’ new pension system." CalSTRS expects this contract will be for a period of at least four years, and the contractor will work in partnership with CGIintegrator of the new pension system. Proposals must be received by Nov. 9.
- In another bid from CalSTRS released on Oct. 4, it's seeking quotes to provide the purchase and implementation of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Storage that includes hardware, software, installation services, post implementation support, and Proactive Credits. CalSTRS intends to award a contract for up to five years for the services. Responses to the RFQ are due Oct. 25.
- The California Department of Justice is seeking a contractor to conduct an assessment of the CURES 2.0 registration, user account verification and authentication, and logon process to identify potential improvements for usability and security methods. Affected systems are the CURES Java application, and the departmental identity management solution SiteMinder. The Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) 2.0 system rolled out in January. The modernized platform gives qualified users a secure, browser-based login where they can interact with data that flags patients who are suspected of "doctor shopping" or are prescribed medications that might be fatal when used in combination, among other functions. RFQ responses are due Oct. 17.
