Roy, based in the Los Angeles area, has been with Box for three years, beginning as a large enterprise account executive. In his new role, he leads a team of six large enterprise and strategic account executives in the western United States. Roy’s team supports public-sector state and local government and education (SLED) accounts across California, the Pacific Northwest, the Rockies and Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana (TOLA).

Among those team members is Dan Ternan, who is Box’s newly appointed large enterprise account executive for California.

“Dan does report to me, and he’s incredible,” Roy told Industry Insider. “Dan has been at Box for five years and most recently led one of our commercial teams, but he is a Sacramento native, so when we opened the [California] position up, he raised his hand immediately.”

Brett Conrad, Box’s vice president for public sector, is similarly enthused about Roy’s promotion.

“Box Public Sector is thrilled to welcome Eric as the leader of Box’s SLED West and TOLA team,” Conrad told Industry Insider. “With a unique blend of industry expertise and nonprofit experience, Eric brings a strong focus on mission success and making a positive impact in the community. As we strive to meet the needs of our 500-plus customers in the West/TOLA region, Eric will be an invaluable partner for technology providers, system integrators, and most importantly, our valued customers. We are excited about Eric’s dedicated leadership as we work together to modernize government services, enhance citizen experiences, and simplify technology for state and local government agencies.”

Roy told Industry Insider: “I’m inspired to continue Box’s investment into the state and local sector, drawing on a personal family legacy of public service at the local level. We are achieving levels of success that have only been made possible by our team’s rapid advancements in AI and in the ECM space, and I cannot wait to continue this incredible journey supporting our customers and citizens alike.”

Box, which was founded in 2005, works with more than 10,000 government agencies, including the city and county of Los Angeles, Orange County, the city and county of San Francisco, and the state of California.
