Brown Names State IT Veteran Wong to Census Agency

An IT veteran of various state government departments, most recently including the California Department of Technology, has been appointed operations project manager for the California Complete Count Census by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Wong had been project director at the California Department of Technology since 2017, where she was branch chief of the Office of Digital Innovation, Enterprise Planning and Portfolio Management from 2016 to 2017 and a project communications and policy manager from 2013 to 2016.

Wong was strategic communications manager at Financial Information Systems for California (FI$Cal) from 2012 to 2013; fiscal and resource manager at the California Department of Motor Vehicles from 2009 to 2012; and administrative services chief in the Division of Flood Management for the California Department of Water Resources from 2007 to 2009.

She was a budget analyst in the state Attorney General’s Office from 2002 to 2007 after serving as a legal support services analyst from 2000 to 2002. Wong was publications lead analyst for the California Department of Health Services in 2000.

This position does not require Senate confirmation; the compensation is $130,524.
