Carlsbad is home to more than 115,000 people and has an operating budget of more than $275 million. The city hopes to focus on Smart City projects to improve "government efficiency and customer service," according to the city's press release.

But let's face it – the world is changing, and now it's time to redefine what excellence looks like for municipal government in the digital age," the city's job posting read.
