“This academy promises to be an educational and interactive experience ensuring that our future IT leaders are positioned to support not only their current departmental business needs and goals, but also the continued delivery of quality services and innovative solutions to the people of California,” CDT says in its announcement.
This will be the 28th cohort of ITLA, a program that CDT says “contains a mindful blend of course topics critical for today’s IT leaders, such as executive communication skills, Agile concepts, strategic planning, Business Chemistry, organizational change management, and emotional intelligence.”
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the governor’s directives currently in place, training sessions will be conducted online using various platforms (e.g. Zoom, Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting, MS Teams),” CDT’s announcement says. “As the circumstances related to COVID-19 continue to evolve, some training sessions may be delivered using an in-person format. However, this is not anticipated for the onset of the program, and students should expect to potentially complete the entire academy online.”
The 17-week program, which runs from Jan. 6 through May 7, focuses on training “our future chief information officers and executive IT leaders,” CDT says. “This year’s academy will also incorporate best practices and strategies needed to lead successfully in a remote environment throughout the curriculum.”
ITLA is open to state and local government workers at the management and supervisory levels with a strategic and innovative mindset, who aspire to move into an executive or senior leadership position. Prospective participants must be nominated by their chief information officer and are required to submit a signed CIO Authorization Form as part of their package submission.
Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Nov. 2. To learn more about the program or to apply, go to CDT’s workforce development site.
ITLA is the flagship among CDT’s four academies; the others are the Project Management Leadership Academy, the Digital Services Innovation Academy and the Information Security Leadership Academy. They fall under the leadership of CDT Deputy Director Brenda Bridges Cruz, who heads the Office of Professional Development.
