Jennifer Herrera, the chief of the California Department of Technology’s Acquisition and IT Program Management Division, has announced her plans to retire at the close of the month.
Herrera’s more than three decades in state government have included time with some of the state’s most recognizable departments, including the departments of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Motor Vehicles and General Services.
“As I reflect on this journey, I’m filled with gratitude for the colleagues, mentors and friends who have supported, challenged and inspired me along the way. Together we’ve celebrated successes, overcome challenges and built lasting relationships that I’ll always cherish,” Herrera wrote in a LinkedIn post.
Herrera has been with CDT for nearly 15 years, beginning as a supervisor for the Acquisition Services Unit before becoming the assistant branch chief and acting branch chief of Acquisition and IT Program Management. In 2017, she took over as chief of the division.
“Retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter — one filled with new adventures, more time with family and friends, pursue passions I’ve put on hold and to consider new opportunities that may come my way,” Herrera continued in the post.
