CIO Ajit Girn to Headline Industry Insider Member Briefing With EDD

The tech leader for the Employment Development Department and Loree Levy, deputy director of public affairs for the department, will address vendors and other attendees at the March 11 event.

The top technology executive in the state Employment Development Department (EDD), Chief Information Officer Ajit Girn, will headline an Industry Insider — California Member Briefing next month in Sacramento.

Girn, who’s been in the CIO role for one year, will be joined in the presentation by Loree Levy, deputy director of public affairs for EDD.

Check-in for the event begins at 9:30 a.m. March 11 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, Regency Ballroom EF. The briefing, which is open only to Industry Insider — California members, will run about an hour. Registration and other details are available online.

Girn has more than 20 years’ IT experience in both the public and private sectors, and his focus is leveraging technology to drive innovation and improve services for the public. He leads the modernization and strategic direction of EDD’s IT Branch, overseeing critical systems that allow the disbursement of benefits through unemployment insurance, disability insurance and paid family leave benefits. His efforts contribute to EDDNext, the modernization that the department has undertaken with the goal of streamlining services.

He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and ITIL expert, with an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Levy, who joined EDD in 2001, helps manage the EDD brand by conducting public education campaigns, providing plain-language training and measuring customer experience with real-time data and actionable insights. Before her affiliation with EDD, Levy spent 15 years in television news, including as on-air reporter for NBC affiliate KCRA-TV Channel 3 and a news anchor for “Good Day Sacramento” at KPWB-TV.

Levy holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State University, Sacramento.
