California Department of Managed Health Care spent about $8.97 million in IT goods, services and telecom during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years.

California Department of Managed Health Care spent about $8.97 million in IT goods, services and telecom during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years. That included about 297 purchase orders spread over 24 months, with the most orders, 74, in June 2017. The next few months, including July, October and November 2017, had the fewest purchase orders made, at one each.

The largest monetary portion of those orders came from competitive bids at $5 million. Competitive bids, California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) and fair and reasonable contracts make up around half of the department's spend over those two years. CMAS purchases amounted to $3.3 million over the two years. Another $2.6 million was spent in fair and reasonable contracts.

In those two years, a little over half of the $5.4 million was spent on IT services. In all, $3.6 million was spent on IT goods, and about $14,000 was spent on telecom.

FY 2016-17 had a $7 million spend, with more than half going to IT services, about $4.5 million going to other services, and $2.6 million being spent on goods. The department spent $1.92 million in FY 2017-18 — about $992,000 on goods, around $918,000 on services and a little more than $10,000 on telecom.
