It’s been several weeks since we first reported that Culver City was preparing to post its CIO recruitment. That posting is now live.
The incumbent will lead the city’s Information Technology Department (ITD) and its staff of 22 full-time employees, with a roughly $9.5 million budget. The city, meanwhile, has an annual budget of $393.9 million.
The current CIO is J.R. Wright, who has been with the city since December 2024. His resume includes leadership roles with the cities of Torrance and Merced, as well as the private sector.
ITD more broadly is responsible for providing enterprise-wide services, including applications, telecommunications, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, networks and more.
The next CIO will be one who “combines broad technical expertise with executive-level judgment” and who is capable of “moving between long-range planning, executive advising, project oversight, staff leadership, budget administration, vendor and contract management and the day-to-day realities of delivering innovative and reliable technology services.”
Compensation for this role ranges from $201,448 to $245,898 annually and is based on qualifications and experience. More information about the position is available here.
