The Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) has posted initial data sets on the California Health and Human Services Agency’s Open Data Portal, officials announced on Tuesday.
The first offerings include data sets on DMHC enforcement actions, Independent Medical Review (IMR) decisions and premium rates filed with the DMHC.
California Health and Human Services launched the portal, https://chhs.data.ca.gov/, with the intent to integrate data from multiple departments. Five entities are now publishing data on the portal: California Department of Public Health, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, Department of Health Care Services, Department of Rehabilitation and DMHC. All five are under the agency’s supervision.
The Department of Managed Health Care was created in 2000 to regulate and govern HMOs.
The first data sets made public on the portal last summer were birth profiles, popular baby names, poverty rates, West Nile virus surveillance data, the location of vendors who accept vouchers from the Women, Infants and Children program (WIC), and more.
