Department of Technology Announces Intent to Award for GPS Services

The California Department of Technology has announced an intent to award a contract for GPS tracking of parolees.

The Department of Technology has announced an intent to award for an RFP that would provide electronic monitoring services.

The announcement states the contract will likely go to Satellite Tracking of People LLC.

The original price cap for the contract was for $87 million, including all hardware, software and services.

The project will provide monitors with global positioning satellite monitors to make tracking parolees simpler. The law requires all sex offenders and some gang members to be tracked with GPS.
