Departments Open Recruitment for CISO, Division Chief

Both positions call for leadership skills as well as management experience. One is with the State Compensation Insurance Fund, and the other is with the California Employment Development Department.

State agencies have begun recruitment for two key tech leadership roles.

The State Compensation Insurance Fund is recruiting for a chief information security officer (Career Executive Assignment) to establish and maintain “the enterprise vision, awareness, strategy and programs to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected.”

According to the job posting and duty statement, the chief information security officer (CISO) “will provide executive leadership over the information security and information governance functions of the organization.” The incumbent will work with IT and other business programs to identify, develop, implement and maintain technologies, processes, procedures and protocols across the organization “to ensure the security, integrity and appropriate handling of information and to reduce information risk related to IT.” The CISO will report to the chief risk officer.

Prerequisites for the role, according to the job posting, include:
  • Seven years’ significant experience in the information security and/or IT audit arena (minimum of two years of information security experience is required), and a bachelor’s degree.
  • Possess exceptional technology skills and have a comprehensive understanding of information security paradigms and technologies.
  • Outstanding financial and analytical skills.
  • Superior communication, organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities.

The monthly salary range for this position is $10,831 to $12,903, and the application deadline is April 18.

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting for a division chief (Career Executive Assignment) to oversee the Product Development Division (PDD) in the implementation, maintenance, operations and support of EDD’s custom applications for Unemployment Insurance Online, Disability Insurance, Workforce Services and Tax Collection systems. The chief also oversees the Enterprise Testing Office for the department and is a member of EDD’s executive staff.
