Departments Seek Data Engineer, Network Engineering Manager

The California State Lottery and the Office of Systems Integration, which is part of the California Health and Human Services Agency, are seeking qualified applicants.

State government departments are recruiting for some key IT positions.

The Office of Systems Integration, part of the California Health and Human Services Agency, is recruiting for a data engineer (IT Specialist I) to work on data infrastructure for the California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) project. CARES is part of “a new Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) with Child Welfare Digital Services (CWDS),” the job posting says. CWDS is “a unique collaboration involving the Office of Systems Integration (OSI), the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and California’s counties and tribes.”

The CARES Data Infrastructure (CDI) engineer “will perform data analysis, research and documentation involved in the Data Conversion lifecycle,” the posting says. “The data engineer will work collaboratively with stakeholders and evaluate the optimal way to accomplish the Data Conversion objectives, engage in data preparation, data quality assessment, data conversion strategies, data cleansing, and data mapping activities. In addition, the CDI data engineer will develop analysis, research, [and] documentation, while creating, defining, and implementing technical tasks needed in supporting all aspects of CDI.”

The responsibilities of the position, according to the duty statement, include:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to perform data conversion and migration activities supporting the migration of data from legacy systems to CWS-CARES. Design, build, deploy and maintain data conversion and cleansing scripts and programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage Master Data Management (MDM) and perform data quality monitoring and cleansing in support of CWS-CARES objectives. Design, build, deploy and maintain data quality monitoring, cleansing scripts and programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support CDI Unit and other special projects, meeting regularly with project teams and other internal and external stakeholders to review project progress and discuss outstanding project issues and mitigation strategies.

The role has a monthly salary range of $5,960 to $9,643, and the application deadline is Feb. 18.

The California State Lottery is recruiting for a network engineering manager (IT Manager I) to plan, organize and direct the activities of staff in supporting the Lottery’s networking infrastructure, which includes its Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).

Additional duties of the role, according to the job posting and duty statement, include:
  • Set IT processes and standards.
  • Formulate future long-range vision and objectives.
  • Align, review implementation, and ensure conformance of the unit with organizational policies and objectives.

The position has a monthly salary range of $8,591 to $11,512, and the application deadline has been extended to Jan. 27.
