DGS Warns of Cyberscammer Posing as Vendor

State cybersecurity authorities are warning of a potential email phishing scam in which the attacker is trying to gain Bidder Credentials.

State cybersecurity authorities are warning of a potential email phishing scam in which the attacker is trying to gain Bidder Credentials.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) and the Department of General Services (DGS) are aware of the scam, in which users are directed to another website and may appear to email Caltrans Director Laurie Berman.

DGS notes that Cal eProcure is the only state website for all postings of Bid Opportunities and State Leveraged Procurement Agreement contracts.

The California Highway Patrol, which is the lead agency in state probes of cybercrimes, is investigating this most recent scam to obtain vendor credentials.

The DGS warning also advises that if you believe you may have received a phishing email, contact the CHP; the state Attorney General's Office; or the Federal Trade Commission.
