DHCS Opens Recruitment for New Executive Role in Technology

The assistant deputy director of Enterprise Technology Services will work under the general direction of the deputy director and chief information officer and is a member of DHCS executive staff.

The state Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking candidates for assistant deputy director of Enterprise Technology Services, a new position in the department.

The position is a Career Executive Assignment, and the incumbent “plays a vital role in leading the development and implementation of IT policies, system architecture, security, improvements, and solutions for DHCS programs,” the job posting says. The assistant deputy director works under the general direction of the deputy director and chief information officer and is a member of DHCS executive staff.

In a LinkedIn post announcing the recruitment, DHCS’ chief information officer, Crystal Taylor, writes: “Come partner with me as the first Assistant Deputy Director of ETS! If you are a smart, strategic, dynamic and innovative leader interested in being a part of a fantastic organization committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence in service of a healthy California for all, this is the role for you!”

Desirable qualifications for this position include:
  • Knowledge of market trends and issues related to IT and/or the health-care landscape from an IT perspective.
  • Experience managing a dynamic and complex IT portfolio of operational responsibilities and projects with a focus on delivery, transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Experience and knowledge of the organization of California state government, administration and large-scale operations.
  • Experience advising executives on complex/sensitive operational, project and technology matters.
  • Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations and processes that govern IT for the state.
Candidates should also be able to collaborate effectively across high levels of government, external organizations, providers, industry associations, and beneficiaries, and possess the ability to lead change and transformation efforts within and outside the organization.
