This afternoon's Techwire virtual briefing offers a rare opportunity to hear from three leading California county CIOs, who together make up the executive board of directors of the California County Information Services Directors Association (CCISDA). Jerry Becker — Director, San Joaquin County, Information Systems Division
Jerry Becker is the director of Information Systems for San Joaquin County. Mr. Becker has been an information technology professional in the public sector for over 32 years and holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems. His responsibilities have included implementation and management of mobile computing for the California Highway Patrol and information technology strategic planning for the California Department of Transportation. Mr. Becker is currently responsible for core technology services in San Joaquin County and also for all election activities.
Mr. Becker and his team in San Joaquin County have received several awards for their accomplishments in the public sector, including CIO Magazine’s CIO 100 Award, Computerworld Laureate, Top Ten County — Digital Counties Survey, and the Center for Digital Government’s Best of California — Project Excellence Award.
Tim Dupuis — Chief Information Officer, Alameda County
With more than 25 years of experience running government organizations and leading transformational change, Tim Dupuis is both the chief information officer and registrar of voters for Alameda County.
As chief information officer, Tim is passionate about the shift in traditional IT as it quickly becomes a leading force in government innovation. Tim leads Alameda County’s Information Technology Department, providing strategic direction and management for the organization’s Infrastructure, Program Management, Applications and Digital Services. He is responsible for developing enterprise solutions that solve business challenges, engage the community and reduce IT costs for approximately 9,500 employees and 1.7 million constituents.
Mike Pettit — Chief Information Officer, Ventura County
Mike Pettit serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the county of Ventura. In addition to setting technology strategy and direction for the county, Mike serves as the director of the Information Technology Services Department that delivers business-technology services to more than 65 different county agencies, departments and external government entities.
Alongside his role as the CIO for the county of Ventura, Mike also serves as the co-chair of the Pacific Coast Broadband Consortium and as the immediate past-president of the California County Information Systems Directors Association (CCISDA). Mr. Pettit brings more than 20 years of IT experience to his position as CIO, with much of it gained in various technical and leadership roles with technology companies ranging from small Silicon Valley startups to Fortune 500 corporations such as Hewlett Packard.
