The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a project controller (Career Executive Assignment) to plan, direct and oversee EDDNext, a multiyear modernization project that will update online applications, call centers, claims processes, forms and more by replacing the old system with new technology.
The project controller is “responsible for the financial management of resources assigned to the project, serves as the primary liaison between the project and the project sponsors and executive committee, and escalates decisions and issues as needed,” according to the job posting, which describes the role as “an important leadership position.”

- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships on behalf of the department with executive levels of industry, state and federal control agencies, CDT and the vendor community.

The California Department of Technology is seeking a digital solutions architect (IT Specialist III) to advise on digital innovations, spearhead important project designs and set application development standards for CDT and its Office of Digital Services (ODS), “guiding leadership in organizing and developing IT technologies and methods, including policies and governance structures.”
The architect will report to the chief digital strategy officer and will establish and enforce technology innovation standards, lead the development of new technology services and manage the planning and standardization of projects, according to the job posting. “This role also includes providing recommendations on application development policies, collaborating with external partners and coordinating various systems for statewide projects,” the posting says.
The incumbent will lead digital transformation and modernization, covering technologies such as public and private cloud services, DevSecOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline automation, low-code/no-code platforms, microservices architecture, cloud and application security, data analytics, and comprehensive “everything as code” approaches, the posting says. The architect “ensures that CDT and ODS services align with client needs and the broader goals of the California Enterprise Architecture Framework, collaborating closely with the enterprise architecture team and specialists” across state government.
