El Dorado County is searching for a new CIO after the Board of Supervisors voted to dismiss the leader of its Information Technologies Department.
According to an article from the Mountain Democrat in Placerville, the board voted to dismiss CIO Tonya Digiorno in a closed session on Nov. 15. County officials gave no reason for her dismissal.
Digiorno was first appointed in December 2019 and steered the county's IT department through the COVID-19 pandemic. In a 2023 One-on-One interview with Industry Insider — California, she outlined several projects the department was taking on, including establishing an application inventory and project portfolio, refreshing the three-year cybersecurity strategic plan, replacing the payroll system, digitizing documents and redesigning the county website.
Before joining the county government, she served as department CIO for the California Department of Technology. Her career has included more than two decades of experience with the state government, with roles at the Department of Health Care Services and the Department of Justice.
