Now, it's also the department in charge of enhancing transparency around the state's budget. To that end, the department is unveiling a pilot website built around data.
"We are starting with a limited pilot version to demonstrate the power of the data in our system and to seek feedback from users and departments," FI$Cal Director Miriam Barcellona Ingenito wrote in the department's March newsletter.
The site will focus on transactions from a few departments, including FI$Cal, to begin with. Departments that have completed the transition to the FI$Cal system by July 2018 will all be included on the site by July 2019.
When the site is built out, users can engage with the state's financial data through sorting by multiple categories. Those hoping to sell to the state can also use the information to identify departmental needs.
The pilot site is expected to launch later this year.
