California Department of General Services Director Fred Klass will retire at the end of November, according to a department announcement.
Klass has served in state government for 37 years, since 2011 as director of the department that oversees state procurement, state real estate and other business operations. Prior to his tenure at DGS, Klass served as chief operating officer at the Department of Finance where he worked in various capacities for more than 20 years.
DGS Chief Deputy Director Esteban Almanza will serve as acting director until Governor Brown appoints a permanent replacement.
