Gomez, Tong, Bhinder Take Top CIO Academy Awards

The annual awards, presented at the California Public Sector CIO Academy, honored some 60 teams and individuals for their leadership in state IT.

The three top individual awards at this year’s California Public Sector CIO Academy* went to:
  • Center for Digital Government Lifetime Achievement Award: Amy Tong, former state CIO and most recently senior counselor to the governor
  • CIO of the Year: Fredrick Gomez, agency CIO and director of IT Services for the Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA)
  • California CTO of the Year: Jagmeet Bhinder, CTO of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS)
The individual recipients for the California IT Leadership Award were:
