Gov. Brown Appoints New FI$Cal Chief

Gov. Brown on Wednesday appointed Miriam Barcellona Ingenito, 43, as executive partner of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal), replacing Jeff Uyeda, who retired from state service last month.

Gov. Brown on Wednesday appointed Miriam Barcellona Ingenito, 43, as executive partner of the  Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal), replacing Jeff Uyeda, who retired from state service last month.

Ingenito previously served as chief deputy director of the Department of Toxic Substances Control and before that as deputy secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency from 2011. She also also served as deputy director of legislation at the Department of Finance from 2009 to 2011 and has worked in the Legislature and for the Legislative Analyst’s Office starting in 1997.

Ingenito earned a master’s of public policy degree from the University of Chicago, Harris School of Public Policy.

Last month, the FI$Cal project launched Wave 2, adding 45 state entities, for a total of 54 now using the state’s new financial system. A second phase of Wave 2, scheduled to occur in December, will center on implementation of Cal eProcure, the state’s new procurement portal replacing BidSync.
