Christine Harada was sworn in as the new Government Operations Agency (GovOps) undersecretary by Secretary Nick Maduros Monday.
Harada takes over the role from Sarah Soto-Taylor, who held the position since October 2024. Before that, Soto-Taylor previously served as the deputy secretary of business transformation and strategic development. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the leadership change Aug. 28.
Harada brings a long public- and private-sector resume that includes serving as a senior adviser at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget and as president of i(X) Investments, among other high-level roles.
Harada also has a lengthy academic resume that includes a Master of Business Administration and a Master of the Arts in international studies from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In late August, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that Christine Harada would be taking over as Government Operations Agency undersecretary from Sarah Soto-Taylor. Harada was sworn into her new role Monday.
