The state technology department spent millions on IT goods last month, with its seven most expensive purchases combined reaching the mid-seven figures.

The California Department of Technology made 23 purchases of IT goods altogether and it spent more than $4 million on just the seven costliest buys. CDT spent $4,047,753 on those purchases, all with Norway-based Crayon Software Experts LLC, based on data in the State Contract and Procurement Registration System. The company has 12 U.S. offices including one in Irvine.

CDT’s seven purchases with Crayon Software Experts were for “M365 E5 From SA GCC ALNG SubsVL MVL PerUsr,” most likely reflecting the state’s ongoing need for Office 365 E5 government community cloud shared servers, with all language designation. As shown, these were volume subscriptions, each with a 4.5-year term, from Oct. 1-March 31, 2026. With rounding, purchase amounts were:

  • $1.1 million
  • $831,000
  • $495,000
  • $478,000
  • $427,000
  • $399,000
  • $314,000
By contrast, CDT made only two purchases in October of IT services. In the larger of the two, the department spent $150,000 with Technology Crest Corp. of Fair Oaks for accessibility training. This is a two-year contract from Oct. 18-Oct. 17, 2023.
