Here’s a Look at Every IT Funding Request From State Agencies for 2025

So far, state agencies have asked the Legislature for funds for nearly 70 IT-related projects and expenses. Here’s a searchable tool compiling every one of them.

For the next budget, state agencies are asking the Legislature to fund more than $884 million in technology-related projects.

Thus far, state agencies have submitted a total of 68 budget change proposals (BCPs) — although more will come out, especially following Gov. Gavin Newsom's budget revision in May*.

The single largest request amounts to $256.5 million for the Child Welfare Services - California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES), a joint BCP from the California Department of Social Services, California Health and Human Services Agency and the Office of Technology and Solutions Integration. The project, which first received funding in 2018, seeks to modernize the state’s Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System and bring it into federal and state compliance.

This BCP seeks more funding for “state, county, and vendor resources; hardware/software; and core constituent participation to continue the [design, development and implementation]” of the project.

Below is a searchable, sortable table of every such request published on the Department of Finance website, including the dollar amount requested, the project title and a link to the document.
*This table will be updated with additional BCPs as they become available.
