This story has been corrected to note that although Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed the state budget framework, he has not yet signed the budget itself.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed the framework for the massive new state budget, but that doesn’t mean it’s a done deal.
Some details, trailer bills and housekeeping matters still remain, and much has changed since the May Revision, so until the final final budget is in place, the view remains somewhat murky: Where are the opportunities for technology? What initiatives will/won’t be funded when the dust settles?
For an in-depth look at the budget and where the tech opportunities can be found, join Industry Insider — California at 2 p.m. July 15 for a Virtual California Budget Briefing with Alan Cox, publisher of Industry Insider and senior vice president of e.Republic*; Joe Morris, deputy chief innovation officer for the Center for Digital Government*; and Dennis Noone, executive editor of Industry Insider.
This event, which will run about 45 minutes and include time for audience questions, is free for members of Industry Insider — California, and attendance is limited. More information and a registration link can be found online.
*e.Republic encompasses the Center for Digital Government, Industry Insider — California, Government Technology and Governing magazine.
