Hernandez comes to the city after nearly 16 years with the city of Fremont’s Information Technology Services (ITS) Department. Before joining the Fremont ITS, she worked for more than 11 years as the assistant manager for business applications with the former Bay Area automobile manufacturer NUMMI.

“Alicia’s leadership, technical depth and strong track record of delivering technology that serve[s] departments and the community make her an outstanding addition to our executive team,” Cameron said in a press release. “We look forward to the vision and momentum she will bring to San Leandro.”

Hernandez replaces outgoing CTO Michael Sinor, who was recently selected to replace longtime Mountain View CIO Roger Jensen. Sinor previously served as the interim director of Berkeley’s IT department and as the assistant director for the city of Roseville’s IT department, where he worked for more than two decades.

“I am honored to join the city of San Leandro and excited to partner with such a dedicated and talented team,” Hernandez said in the release. “I look forward to collaborating with staff throughout the organization to deliver technology solutions that make a meaningful difference for the people we serve.”

Hernandez holds master's certificates in project leadership and system design from Cornell University.
