Local jurisdictions are always seeking new technology solutions. Here are a few in play right now.
Alameda County
The county library is seeking a vendor to upgrade and replace the current firewall system. The new system will allow for more bandwidth use and additional security. All functions of the current system must remain after the replacement has been installed. The vendor will work under the supervision of the library’s IT manager.
Bids are due Nov. 6.
San Diego County
San Diego County is seeking qualified software vendors for “on-demand” Software as a Service. The vendor will provide the solution, train employees to use it and host the learning management system (LMS). The system will be Web-based and available 24/7. The LMS must have the ability to support at least 100 learning domains without any software installations for system administrators. Configuration, workflow and reporting needs as well as technical needs must be supported by the vendor. The system should be interoperable with other platforms, such as the county’s HR system.
Proposals are due Nov. 1.
Orange County
Orange County is looking for a pre-employment background tracking and case management system for law enforcement. The contractor will provide an off-the-shelf program that can generate reports and control access to the system, including geolocation data. The software will also create individual user accounts based on the county’s business needs. The system will integrate into the look of the county’s websites but will be maintained outside of internal IT. The vendor will also provide a system that is compatible with multiple word and data processing systems.
Bids are due Oct. 16.
San Luis Obispo County
San Luis Obispo County is looking for vendors to replace the county clerk-recorder’s voting system. The county wants a vendor to provide all software, hardware and system services necessary to replace the current system.
Proposals are due Oct. 16.
City of Sacramento
The city was recommended to establish a City Hall Tech Program with $125,000 in appropriations from the Innovation and Growth Fund at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The program is meant to test products and services coming out of local companies, encourage open data and reduce permitting time and costs for businesses. The program will encourage the testing of new technologies in rapid, iterative cycles with communication and feedback from end users.
Riverside County
Riverside County received a recommendation at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting to ratify an agreement with Jaguar Computer Systems, not to exceed $550,000. The contract will provide IT services to the Economic Development Agency and Workforce Development Division. The contract would run through June 30, 2018, with an option to renew through June 30, 2020.
Los Angeles
The city of Los Angeles is considering extending a contract with ABB Enterprise Software Inc. for another three years and $4.4 million. The company would provide software maintenance and support to the Enterprise Maintenance, Planning and Control system. The amended contract would be paid for partially by the Sewer Construction and Maintenance Fund.
