Government Technology and AT&T's nationwide platform for special districts invites participation in their regional and national awards program with three categories to recognize IT innovation and leadership.
California special districts will compete in the West category, along with their counterparts in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. An evaluation committee will review nominations in three categories: "Technology Innovation: Citizens," "Technology Innovation: Operations," and "Technology Innovation: Leadership." The same special districts can be nominated in all three categories.
The Special Districts Program is led by leaders and innovators in special districts. The program comprises custom content, events and an awards program.
"We're thrilled to be participating with the special-district sector in recognition of their efforts to apply technology to improve their services and operations," said Janet Grenslitt, director of surveys and awards for e.Republic, parent company of Government Technology, Techwire and other publications. "We can't wait to see this year's heroes in the special-district public sector."
For California districts, the nomination deadline is March 20. For more information about the contest and to submit a nomination, go to www.govtech.com/districts/awards.
The Special Districts Program also includes a series of regional summits across the nation. The West regional summit will be in May in Sacramento; details will be reported as they become available.
