Nov. 17: California Broadband Workshop

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is hosting a free workshop in Mountain View on Nov. 17 to share information about the NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and State Broadband Initiative (SBI) grant programs.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is hosting a free workshop in Mountain View on Nov. 17 to share information about the NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and State Broadband Initiative (SBI) grant programs.

"The California Broadband Workshop will explore the impact of high-speed Internet networks on local and regional economic development, discuss public private partnerships and other proven business models, and examine effective approaches to network deployment and broadband adoption initiatives," the NTIA says.

Scheduled speakers include Rachelle Chong, former CPUC and FCC commissioner; Anne Neville, director, California Research Bureau, California State Library; and Miguel Gamino, CIO, city and county of San Francisco; and many more from the public sector.

The day's events at the Computer History Museum begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.
