Oakland Recruiting for Several IT Specialist Positions

The city of Oakland is recruiting for three open Information System Specialist III roles within the Information Technology Department.

The city of Oakland has put out a call for IT specialists to fill three open positions within its Information Technology Department.

The open Information Systems Specialist III positions will be a part of the infrastructure and cloud engineering and security operations teams, according to a LinkedIn post by CIO Tony Batalla.

“Excited to share that we are recruiting for three (3) vacancies at the Information Systems Specialist III classification!” he said in the post.

IT specialists will be responsible for hardware and software troubleshooting, managing and responding to technical requests from department staff, and addressing “higher-tier” IT issues, among other duties.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Management or a related field and three years of hands-on professional experience in systems administration or five years of equivalent IT and supervisory experience.

Desirable qualifications for these positions include:
  • Microsoft MCSE or other relevant certification
  • Experience with Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and Active Directory.
  • Experience with a focus on customer service.
  • Experience with the procurement of new equipment and software.
  • Experience with PC and laptop configuration.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Office 365 programs.
