ODI Insider Figeroid Tapped as Strategic Initiative Deputy Director

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced this week that Hayley Figeroid has been appointed as the deputy director of the Office of Data and Innovation's Strategic Initiatives division.

Gov. Gavin Newsom this week announced a suite of new appointments, which include new executive leadership for the Office of Data and Innovation’s (ODI) Strategic Initiatives division.

Hayley Figeroid, who had served as the division’s head of government relations since 2022, was officially appointed as its deputy director Oct. 10.

Figeroid is no stranger to state government. In addition to her time with ODI, she has held several management positions with the state’s health insurance marketplace, Covered California, and served as an exam specialist with the Contractors State License Board as well as a provider enrollment analyst with the California Department of Health Care Services. Before joining the state, Figeroid taught English at St. Francis High School.

She holds a Master of Education degree in educational administration and leadership from Concordia University, a Master of Arts degree in English literature from California State University, Sacramento, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of San Francisco.

Her position, which comes with an annual salary of $165,000, does not require Senate confirmation.
