San Bernardino County Names CIO

Lynn Fyhrlund, former chief information officer for Milwaukee County, Wis., is coming west.

The tech leader from Milwaukee County, Wis., has been named the new chief information officer for San Bernardino County.

Lynn Fyhrlund announced the move on LinkedIn, noting that his last day was May 5.

“Some of you may have seen that Milwaukee County posted my position," he wrote. "That is because I took a new opportunity with San Bernardino County, Calif., as their Chief Information Officer. I am moving to Southern California! I have enjoyed my time at Milwaukee County and look forward to new challenges.”

Fyhrlund had been Milwaukee County's IT director of business applications before being named CIO in August 2019. Before that, he had been a consultant with Omni Resources for 20 years. He also served in a series of increasingly responsible roles in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of command sergeant major. He had also worked with Plexus Corp. as a programmer.

Fyhrlund is a graduate of Lakeland University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science, and he earned his Master of Business Administration in strategic leadership from the Wisconsin School of Business. He also has numerous professional credentials and certifications. Fyhrlund has been active in United Way and other community organizations.

The previous CIO for San Bernardino County was Larry Ainsworth, who was featured in an Industry Insider — California "One-on-One" interview in May 2021.
