The cities of Long Beach and Culver City have, or soon will have, openings for top technologist positions.
Long Beach is hiring for its next director of Technology and Innovation, a role previously held by longtime CIO Lea Eriksen, who departed to become the senior assistant city manager and chief operating officer for Culver City in April.
The Long Beach role requires a minimum of eight years of professional-level experience in the IT space, in addition to at least five years of “significant management experience” and college-level education in computer science, public administration or related fields.
This position comes with a salary between $224,424 and $270,326, depending on experience as well as health and retirement benefits.
Interested applicants can submit resumes and cover letters until Aug. 10. In-person interviews are set to take place Sept. 3-4.
Long Beach has been a leader in the local government IT space with a strong focus on digital innovation and public engagement. Last year, the city was awarded a first-place spot in the Center for Digital Government* Digital Cities Survey.
Meanwhile, Culver City is teasing the release of a similar opportunity for a new CIO. A LinkedIn post from Raftelis Senior Manager Serena Wright-Black, and shared by Eriksen, announced the upcoming job posting, though no release date was shared.
“With a talented team of professionals, significant technology investments, and an organization committed to innovation, this is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic CIO who is ready to make a lasting impact,” Wright-Black wrote in the post.
