The Department of Social Services is recruiting for a chief of strategic initiatives and operations (Career Executive Assignment) to oversee development and deployment of policy and strategic initiatives.

“The CSIO will also support internal operational improvement throughout the division, developing policies and procedures to recruit and retain a best-in-class team,” the job posting says. The position, in the Research, Automation and Data Division (RADD), oversees a team of seven. The duties of the job, according to the job posting and duty statement, include:
  • Provide executive leadership and program management and lead the Office of Strategic Alignment and Support: 30 percent
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of policy and strategic initiatives to advance the division’s mission in collaboration with the chief data officer and other members of leadership: 30 percent
  • Develop and manage a division-wide process for coordinating budget and policy proposals, legislative bill analyses, trailer bill drafting and review, and other activities: 20 percent
  • Support the streamlining and improvement of administrative processes within RADD, including hiring, training and contracting: 10 percent
  • Provide professional development and coaching: 5 percent
  • Other duties as needed, including possibly representing the RADD or the deputy director in meetings, hearings and other activities: 5 percent
Desirable qualifications for this role, according to the job posting, include:
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in developing and implementing frameworks, policies and best practices related to data integration, data management, data literacy and related topics
  • Experience in strategic planning, setting goals and achieving organizational objectives
  • Experience leading cross-sector initiatives and large-scale projects, particularly those with a significant data integration/sharing/management component
  • Experience building, leading and developing teams and navigating the policies and procedures of a large organization
  • Familiarity with state budget and legislative processes
The monthly salary range for this position is $10,048 to $12,161, and the application deadline is Sept. 6.
