Splunk Names Karu to SLED Sales Director Role

“It’s a critical time where agencies can’t afford to be in a position where they aren’t able to provide continuous access to information and critical services,” Louise Karu said.

Splunk has named technology veteran Louise Karu to the position of regional sales director for state and local government and education.

Karu, a longtime San Francisco resident, comes to Splunk from Uber, where she served first as head of Enterprise & Strategic for U.S. and Canada and then as global head of strategic accounts. Her affiliations before that include leadership and executive positions with SAP Ariba, Palo Alto Networks, NetApp and Dell EMC.

Karu said she was drawn by Splunk’s ability to execute in helping public-sector customers.

“It’s a critical time where agencies can’t afford to be in a position where they aren’t able to provide continuous access to information and critical services,” she said in an email from Splunk. “Our platform enables our SLED customers to have optimal availability and resilience across all systems and applications.”

Karu, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco, cites “diversity in cybersecurity and women in IT leadership” among the principles about which she’s passionate.
