State CISO Panych Among Speakers for Cybersecurity Webinar

California’s chief information security officer, Vitaliy Panych, will be among the speakers next week in a live virtual webinar, “The State of Cybersecurity: A Fireside Chat with Regional CISOs.”

The panel will share the challenges, emerging trends and initiatives shaping the cybersecurity landscape. Designed for private-sector professionals, this 30-minute discussion will pinpoint opportunities, help fine-tune business strategies and validate sales and marketing activities. At the end of the event, engage directly with the panel during a live Q&A.

The event, presented by Government Technology magazine, a sister publication of Industry Insider California, begins at 11 a.m. July 12. Registration and other details are available online. The moderator will be Phil Bertolini, senior vice president of e.Republic, parent company of Government Technology and Industry Insider.

In addition to Panych, speakers for the webinar include:
  • Tracy Barnes, chief information officer for the state of Indiana. Barnes previously served as chief of staff for Indiana’s lieutenant governor and as deputy auditor and IT director for the Indiana Auditor of State. Before joining the public sector, Barnes was president and chief executive officer for ENTAP Inc., an IT consulting services firm that designed and delivered effective enterprise-focused IT solutions to organizations across the globe.
  • Chris DeSain, CIO for New York state since June 2022. DeSain’s 24 years of cybersecurity experience include having served as director of the Office of Counter Terrorism Cyber Incident Response team under the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). Earlier in his career, he helped build the New York State Police (NYSP) cyber program, crafted the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) regulations, and became the first civilian CJIS information security officer in the nation.
  • Erin McGinnis, director of Statewide Cyber Collaboration and Preparedness for the state of Kansas.
