State Names Chief Technology Officer for IT Services Division

Patrick Dennis began work today as the new chief technology officer for the California Department of Technology’s IT Services Division.

Dennis previously was a section chief in the department’s Information Technology Project Oversight Division (ITPOD). Most recently, he served as the Business Integration lead for the State Technology Approval Reform (STAR) Project, where he led efforts to reform the statewide policy supporting the state’s IT Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL).

According to the department, in his new role Dennis will continue directing the initiation efforts on the Project Planning and Lifecycle Automation Project (PPLA) proposal, which will modernize and automate the PAL and the processes supporting IT project oversight, project management, statewide technology procurement and Office of Technology Services project builds.

"Patrick has extensive project oversight experience in managing state project portfolios for departments and agencies and brings this experience and insight to his new position," the Department of Technology announced in an email.

Before coming to the Department of Technology, Dennis worked for nearly 20 years in project implementation and testing for the Franchise Tax Board.
