State Recruiting for 2 IT Management Positions

The executive positions include involve oversight and management responsibilities, as well as input on policy and IT governance.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) is conducting a high-level recruitment for a deputy director over Statewide Enterprise Solutions, the No. 2 position in the department’s newly rebranded Office of Enterprise Technology.  

The deputy director will report to state Chief Digital Innovation Officer Scott Gregory, who oversees the Office of Enterprise Technology (OET).

The new position, which is awaiting formal approval by the state Department of Finance, is classified as a Career Executive Assignment (C.E.A.), and the person will participate as a member of CDT’s executive staff.

The OET is the new name for what used to be called the Office of Digital Innovation (ODI). That name has been given instead to a new office within the Government Operations Agency.

“The deputy director’s responsibilities include providing organizational leadership on statewide technology policy and innovative initiatives including new technology research and review to ensure the alignment of technology vision with business strategy to drive digital services innovation statewide,” the job posting says. “The CEA will also collaborate with policy, program and technology leaders across the state to accelerate the delivery of complex, mission critical, and time-sensitive digital projects that supports the broader goals outlined in the State’s Vision 2020 Strategic Plan.”

In another high-level recruitment, the state Department of Consumer Affairs is looking for a chief of the office of information technology (classification IT Manager II), specifically overseeing IT for the Contractors State Licensing Board.

The position comes under the direction of the chief registrar, the deputy registrar and the chief information officer. The IT chief serves in an executive management role for CSLB “in setting and influencing organizational information technology policy, formulating information technology programs and objectives, and reviewing implementation and conformance of information technology programs with organizational policies and objectives.”
