While with the city of Stockton, Niazi established the city’s AI Center of Excellence, bolstered cybersecurity with AI and agentic systems and deployed AI to improve operational efficiencies across the city. He also represented Stockton in San Jose’s GovAI Coalition.

Niazi has a similar road map for his new city, according to a press release, and plans to establish the Vallejo AI Center of Excellence while also working to integrate AI into digital services, cybersecurity and operations.

“Vallejo has the talent, the vision and the momentum to become a regional leader in government AI innovation,” Niazi said in a press release. “My goal is to build a foundation that strengthens cybersecurity, improves efficiency and delivers smarter, more responsive services for our residents.”

Throughout his career, Niazi has held IT leadership roles with multiple local government organizations, including the city of Concord, the Contra Costa Water District and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.

He has also spent time in the private sector, managing IT operations for companies such as Basil Seed Works and Ross Stores.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from California State University, Northridge, as well as multiple certifications.
