Tracking the Spend: Caltrans’ $10.3M for IT Goods in Q2

The five largest purchases were for flash storage, laptop/notebook computers, batteries and power supplies.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) spent $10.3 million on its five largest purchases of IT goods in the second quarter of 2023.

According to the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System, Caltrans’ five largest purchases were for flash storage, laptop/notebook computers, batteries and a power supply. In all, the five largest contract awards for IT goods between April 1 and June 30 totaled $10,374,423. These are the awards, all purchased through statewide contracts:
  • $3,645,240 for Pure Storage flash array [“SVGCPURE1 - FA-X70R2-245TB 1MO,PRM,GOLD:Year 2: 2024-2025 (Co-termed to 9/30/2025). Start date: 6/30/2023 End date: 9/30/2026”]. The June 9 contract is with Teranomic.
  • $1,982,411 for HP laptop/notebooks (“HP EB840G9”), in a May 11 award to NWN Solutions Corp.
  • $1,927,129, again for Pure Storage flash array in a June 9 contract with Teranomic.
  • $1,819,758 for battery packs (“BPack,Li-Ion,INDUS,2S1P, 7.2V,2200mAHr,71x39x20.3mm:192670-25”) in an April 6 contract with California Surveying and Drafting Supply.
  • $999,885 for configurable power supplies, in an April 10 contract with Presidio Networked Solutions Group.
